Scandinavian Tour and Riding Holiday
May 30 - June 6, 2012
We invite you to join us for an incredible Scandinavian Tour and Riding Holiday. You will experience the beautiful and unique countries of Sweden and Finland as no other group has ever experienced. Your adventure begins as you arrive in Stockholm Sweden, one of the world’s most exquisite waterfront cities. We’ll be staying at a luxurious four star hotel in the Old Town section near the Royal Palace. You will enjoy gourmet dining at a famed historic restaurant serving delicious local traditional dishes prepared to perfection. You’ll witness the precise and impressive Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the King’s Palace by the Royal Mounted Palace Guard.
We have arranged, through our good friend Major Hans Augustin, a private tour of the Royal Muse which houses the King’s personal horses along with the majestic state carriages and harnesses. The Major will also give us a tour of the Royal Palace Guard’s Regimental Headquarters and Stables. These military facilities including the Royal Muse are not open to the public so this is an amazing opportunity arranged exclusively for our group.
The next unique experience will be taking the overnight cruise ship across the Baltic Sea from Stockholm to Helsinki. As you sit on the upper deck relaxing in the multi-colored sunset and watching the skyline of Stockholm slip away in the distance you will be amazed at the natural beauty as the ship negotiates its way through the thousand island, unique ecosystem of the Archipelago.
After a short tour of historic Helsinki we will board the train for a scenic ride through the southern countryside of Finland en route to our horseback riding destination, the resort town of Kalajoki on the western coast of Finland.
We have arranged for excellent local horses, some of which Ed and Elizabeth have ridden in the past. Our daily rides will take us along the deserted and pristine sand beaches, out into the shallow calm sea, through the evergreen forested sand dunes and along a magnificent wilderness river on forest trails. Picnic lunches on the beach and in the forest will be welcome respites. This is not a nose to tail, stay on the trail type of ride. The sandy trails and wide beaches make for easy riding and great places to gallop with the wind in your hair if you wish. When galloping opportunities arise, our group will be separated by walkers, trotters and gallopers so everyone may ride at their comfortable speed. The horseback riding in this region of Finland is a wonderful and unforgettable experience of a lifetime!
Non riding guests will also truly enjoy this trip and may entertain themselves with a variety of activities including golf on the beautiful beachside 18 hole course, fishing, canoeing, bicycling, four wheeling and relaxing on the beach.
Ed and Elizabeth have experienced all aspects of this trip in the past and have arranged this customized adventure as a unique opportunity for those who choose to join us. You will enjoy incredible vistas, exclusive tours, history, culture, delicious food, gracious people, and amazing riding.
We look forward to riding with you in Scandinavia!
The cost of this trip is $4,850 per person which includes all transportation, meals, horses, guides, and lodging from our first days meeting at our Stockholm hotel to our last days farewell at the Oulu airport. We will only take a maximum of eight guests on this trip so make your reservation right away to save your spot.

Comments from our guests who joined our holiday in the past:
"I loved Stockholm and everything to do with the Royal Palace Guard and their horses. Meeting Lt. Roger and Major Hans was such a pleasure. They added so much to our experience in Stockholm. The cruise ship was truly a treat for me. I was very impressed with Helsinki. What a beautiful city! Finland was unique in its own way. The people, the scenery and the food were great. You really do make sure every detail of the trip is first class. I really appreciate that. It's the only way to go."
-Lu Fisher (September 2011 Trip)
"When you go on an Ed Dabney planned trip, you meet unique folks who become very special friends-share their customs and lives, and ride their horses -this time through magical forests unlike any I have ever seen except in a Disney movie! He is always looking for ways to give you an experience you could never get as a "Tourist"...imagine hugging a horse the King of Sweden rides and talking to the soldier who drives the carriage of the Princess! I can't wait until he plans another one!!"
